Epson debuts Stylus NX625 AIO printer
Epson is one of the biggest printer makers around and when I hear the name I automatically think about expensive ink. I once had a printer from Epson that cost more to fill with ink than I paid for the printer. Epson has unveiled a new printer called the Stylus NX625.
The NX625 is a printer that is aimed at the home user and can print, scan, and copy. The thing can print in black at 15 ppm or in color at 7.2 ppm. It is also capable of printing on two sides of a page automatically at 7.6 ppm in black and 4.6 ppm in color.
The copier can do black and white or color copies up to 99 at a time. The scanner has 2400 dpi resolution for hardware with 48-bit color. The maximum interpolated resolution for the scanner is 9600 x 9600. Other features include a memory card reader, WiFi, and an Ethernet port along with a 2.5-inch LCD for viewing images with no PC.
HP debuts new Mini 210 netbook computer
HP has announced several new computers today including the Mini 210 series. This machine comes in a variety of colors and has the size and performance that mobile types want when on the go for general computing tasks.
The little netbook has a 10.1-inch screen that is LED backlit and supports 720p resolution. The machine can be optioned with the new Intel dual core N550 Atom processor or the older N455 processor. The machine runs Windows 7 Starter or Home Premium.
The little netbook measures 0.9″ thick and 3.1 pounds. HP uses 1GB of RAM and it can be upgraded to 2GB if needed. The machine has 160GB HDD standard with a 250GB option. Pricing starts at $329.99.
Logitech offers new speaker options for laptops
Of all the notebooks I have tired over the years it’s safe to say that 99.99% of the have crap sound systems. They sound flat, lack volume so you can actually hear what’s going on and have no bass. This is the reason there are some any different external speakers and headphone options around.
Logitech has announced a couple new laptop offerings called the Logitech Laptop Speaker Z305 and the Logitech Wireless Speaker Z515. Both speakers are aimed at notebook users with Mac or Windows machines. The Z515 is a wireless offering with a USB transmitter that uses 2.4GHz tech for 50-foot range. The speaker can also connect to the iPad or iPhone wirelessly as well.
Power for the Z515 comes from a rechargeable battery good for ten hours and it will ship this month for $99.99. The Z305 is a round speaker that uses 360-degree sound tech for all around sound. The thing needs only one USB port for connectivity and power. The USB cable tucks away when not in use and both it and the Z515 come with a carry case. The Z305 will ship this month for $59.99.
Creative rocks out with its rock out
Creative has been around for a long time and I first knew them as the company that made sound cards for gaming PCs and other computers. Today Creative has all sorts of gear from MP3 players to speakers and still makes those sound cards too.
Creative has announced a new speaker for outdoor use called the Sound Blaster Wireless Rock. The speaker is one of those outside jobs that looks like a granite stone sitting there. It gets power from a lithium ion battery pack that is removable for charging.
That battery pack is good for six hours of music per charge. The speaker has a 6.5″ woofer and a stationary tweeter. It measures in at 12″ x 11.2″ x 13.8″ and promises a 100-foot wireless range all for $199.99. That price apparently lacks the needed wireless transmitter though, so figure on another $40 or so for that if you don’t have one already.
Archos announces 5 new Android Devices
Archos has unveiled five new Android-powered devices. All are powered by Android 2.2 and sport microphones and accelerometers. However there is no access to Google’s Android Market, just Archos’ AppsLib.
The $100 Archos 28 has a 2.8-inch 320 x 240 pixel display, a resistive touchscreen, 4GB of storage, Wi-Fi, and an 800MHz Cortex A8 processor. The $150 Archos 32 has similar specifications but with a 3.2-inch display, 8GB of storage and a camera at the back that can capture 720p video. Both will be available in September.
The $200 Archos 43 features a 1GHz A8 processor, 4.3-inch 854 x 480 pixel resistive touchscreen display, and a camera on the back. While the $275 Archos 70 has a 1GHz A8 processor, a 7-inch 800 x 480 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, 8GB of storage, HDMI output, a microSD card slot, 7-hours of video playback and support for several popular video formats.
Lastly, the $300 Archos 101 is powered by a 1GHz processor with a large 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 pixel display. It’s very similar to the Archos 70 but with a larger display.
